Jianqiu’s journey with Jiffy began during his tenure as a market development consultant at Syngenta, where he first encountered Jiffy products. In 2008, he established his own distribution company and became Jiffy’s Shanghai distributor. Drawing on his deep understanding of local markets and the challenges faced by Chinese growers, Jianqiu offers not only highest-quality products, but also tailored solutions and personalized support.
Specializing in plant propagation, he works with a wide range of growers, including seedling producers, flower growers, and urban greening projects. His service extends beyond product distribution, incorporating expert consultation to ensure customers can maximize the benefits of Jiffy’s innovative solutions.
How Ye Jianqiu helps growers optimize Jiffy solutions
Jianqiu describes a memorable example: "A grower in Zhejiang Province struggled with slow seedling growth during winter. While the issue initially seemed related to substrate quality, we identified inadequate greenhouse heating as the root cause. Thanks to some training in temperature management, the customer improved seedling success rates significantly.”
“Besides selling products, it is essential to add service and consultation to ensure that our customers can successfully apply our products,” Jianqiu adds. Through technical training, on-site visits, and customized advice, he helps growers achieve greater consistency and elevate the quality and yield of their product.

With nearly 20 years of experience working alongside Jiffy, Jianqiu has developed a deep understanding of our solutions and applications. His method focuses on aligning Jiffy’s products with growers’ specific needs: “We approach it from two perspectives. First, we understand the customer’s needs and challenges. Second, we delve into the characteristics and advantages of Jiffy products.”
It has not always been smooth sailing: changes in national policies, custom duties, and the impact of the pandemic have been obstacles over the years. Despite these causing disrupted logistics and rising costs, communication and strategic planning have ensured business continuity and stability.
A Sino-Dutch solution
Jianqiu’s customer-centric approach shines in his collaboration with Hake Sino-Dutch Agriculture Technology. A supplier of state-of-the art greenhouses, their advanced offerings are imported from Europe. After experiencing a ton of technical issues, they required growing media that met strict physical and environmental standards to prevent dust from interfering with their machinery.
Our distributor introduced them to Jiffy Preforma Plugs, which were not yet widely adopted in China. Despite initial concerns about cost, Jianqiu worked closely with Jiffy’s local teams and global experts to ensure smooth trials, effective communication, and an optimal solution to Hake's issues. The successful trial laid the foundation for a solid partnership between Hake and Jianqiu/Jiffy.
